Adebayor shows the Spurs fans who his daddy is

There was much speculation over whether the Tottenham Hotspurs fans would accept Emmanuel Adebayor. The striker gave those at White Hart Lane two reasons why they should in a 4-0 rout of Liverpool.

The win gets the slow-starting Spurs out of the mix at the bottom of the English Premiere League standings up to 11th.

Pronger Named Captain – Philadelphia Flyers

Personally, I would have picked Danny Briere.

McCrimmon Remembered – Philadelphia Flyers – News

Hockey training camps have started across the NHL but Flyers camp commenced with a heavy heart this year. Last week, the franchise lost one of its most recognizable faces from the 1980s when Brad McCrimmon was killed in a tragic Russian plane crash.

McCrimmon was killed along with the team he just agreed to coach this season in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), Lokomotiv, when the team plane crashed in Russia.

The defenseman was one of the leaders of some rugged and accomplished Flyers teams in the 1980s, twice going to the Stanley Cup Finals versus Edmonton Oilers.

Flood cleanup going to take time

Last week, torrential rains mostly associated with Tropical Storm Lee dumped more than a foot of rain on much of Central and Northeast Pennsylvania.

The rain caused major flooding of the Susquehanna River and many local streams, damaging thousands of homes in the state and causing millions, perhaps billions in damage.

So much help is needed. Here is a list of places that need the most:

Union prep for “perhaps the biggest game” in club history | Philadelphia Union

A few months ago the only issue with the Union was the missing offense. A few months later, the offense is still a mystery and the defense has gotten shaky or the rest of Major League Soccer has cracked the Union’s code on the back four.

Despite the lack of production up front and the defensive lapses at times, the Union is still at a +5 goal differential for the season and its 30 goals allowed is second best in MLS.

Philly hasn’t won since July and the comfortable lead once enjoyed in the Eastern Conference is gone. Now, the Union comes into Saturday night’s match five points behind leaders Columbus with a game in-hand. A win would have the Union leap-frog Houston and draw within a point of Sporting Kansas City.

Hope was lost long ago but beating the Braves is nice

Realistically, the Mets season was lost way back in April when everyone realized Johan Santana wouldn’t be around much this year and R.A. Dickey would be the ace.

The season was put into a nutshell earlier this week when Nationals busted out the big brooms for a four-game sweep of your New York Mets. At some point during that sweep, all mathematical hope was lost as was mine.

A .500 season at this point looks like a long shot. The Mets have won just 2 of their last 10 games and with just 11 games remaining, it would take a tear to reach 81 wins.

If that’s not possible, a weekend sweep of the Braves would be a nice topping to this melted sundae of a season. Further, more wins like Friday night’s 12-2 conquest over Atlanta brings a few teams closer to the Braves for the National League Wild Card berth. Currently, St. Louis is just. 3.5 games back and San Francisco, winner of six in a row, is 5 behind the Braves.

Not that much longer, Mets fans. We’re almost there.

Whaddya know? The way I sit at my desk is called something.

Kids these days and their Internets.

My not-so-ergonomic home office arrangement and furniture tends to lead to some bizarre sitting on my part. Honestly, I’ve never been the best sitter. That probably explains why I lean or why my neck feels crooked.

Apparently, though, I’ve been owling for years … way before it was cool and something to post on the Internet.

Normal folk may look at the link below and think it’s just the stupidest thing since the last stupid thing on the Web (in this specific case, that would be ‘planking’), but if I’ve been doing it long before it had a name … how can I see it that way? It’s my way of life.

Fuck Yeah! Owling!

Eagles are the Lock of the Century of the Week

Here is Carl’s Lock of the Century of the Week and in Week 2, the Aqua Teen Hunger Force star takes a crack at prognosticating the Eagles vs. Falcons game.

Splash Page Video, Week 2 from Philadelphia Eagles on Vimeo.

Michael Vick returns to Atlanta for the first time as the starting quarterback for another team. When he was QB of the Falcons, the Eagles terrorized him. Here’s hoping the Eagles are set to prove they’ve shown Vick how to play the position … and that he runs for about 125 yards and two touchdowns.
